Our achievements

The MOVE programme began in the UK in 1996.  Since then MOVE staff,  teachers, therapists, and most importantly families and children have worked together to achieve the following successes:

• 2,000 severely disabled children have developed their mobility skills through the MOVE programme.
  The increased independence that their new skills bring is estimated to benefit a further 6,000 members of their care team.

• More than 1,800 people (including parents, teachers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, teaching assistants and carers) have been trained to practice the MOVE programme.
  - 65 Practitioners have been trained to become MOVE Trainers. Find out more about MOVE Training Courses
  - 12 expert MOVE Trainers, who also work as teachers and physiotherapists, have become MOVE Consultants to help deliver MOVE regionally throughout the UK.

• 147 schools throughout the UK practice the MOVE programme with pupils with profound and multiple disabilities.
   - This includes 9 Regional Centres of Excellence, who consistently operate the MOVE programme at the highest standard of practice. Find out more about Regional Centres
  - Local authorities in Scotland have agreed to support the MOVE programme to ensure its availability for severely disabled children in the following areas: Highlands, Fife, Dumfries & Galloway, Moray, Mid Lothian, East Lothian, and the City of Edinburgh. Find out more about MOVE in Scotland
  - 11 MOVE trainers throughout Austria, Denmark, Italy, Norway and Spain are working towards making the MOVE programme across mainland Europe.

• MOVE in Transition has been launched with the support of The Vodafone UK Foundation. This pilot programme promotes and monitors the use of the MOVE programme for 16-24 year-olds with severe disabilities in transition centres across the UK. Find out more about MOVE in Transition
