Peter Holland, Chief Executive

Formally of Barnardos, Mencap and Chief Executive for "Action for Blind People"

He currently holds directorships with the MOVE International Foundation, California, The Snowdon Award Scheme, The Metropolitan Society for the Blind, Diverse Solutions Limited and the British Society for Disability and Oral Health. He is Chair of Leadership Development Programmes for the Partnership, Diverse Solutions Limited and UK Modern Art. He is a fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, a member of the Institute of Directors and the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations.

Nigel Carter, MOVE Development Officer

Nigel has worked in the education profession for the past 34 years, the majority of the time with children who have complex special educational needs whose ages have ranged from two to nineteen. He holds a degree in Physical Education and Psychology, a Diploma in Special Education, is an Associate of the College of Preceptors, holds the Leadership Programme for Serving Head teacher’s qualification and is a trained OfSTED inspector. He has worked at Regional and National levels in developing policy and practice in Special Education and for the last ten years of his education career was a Head teacher of two special schools, the second becoming a member of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, specialising in Physical Disabilities and Sensory needs.

Conchita Garcia, Senior Project Executive

Conchita began her career after leaving Southampton University, with MOVE Europe as Projects Assistant. Her current role as Senior Project Executive encompasses the delivery of the MOVE Programme, fundraising and communications for the organisation.

Kate Gare, Director of Business Development

Formally Account Director at Cause & Effect, a corporate social responsibility consultancy, Kate helped to create and deliver community programmes for Vodafone, Sky, BP and the Vodafone UK Foundation.  She also worked with Cancer Research UK, NSPCC and Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund to help maximise their corporate fundraising.  Originally from an Events background at the Teenage Cancer Trust, Kate has more than ten years experience in the not-for-profit sector.  She has travelled extensively and worked with charities in both Romania and Kenya at both grass roots and strategic levels.

Kyra Howell, PA to the Chief Executive and Director of Business Development

Kyra joins MOVE from a career in teaching and is a graduate of University College London, Kings College London and Kingston University.

Catherine Ramshaw, Projects Assistant

This is Catherine's first role in the Charity Sector and she is a graduate from St Mary's University where she studied Professional Creative Writing and Cultural Studies. Catherine is responsible for ensuring for the smooth running of the MOVE project and supporting both the Director of Business Development and Senior Project Executive.

Christine Shaw, MOVE Scotland Development Manager

Christine Shaw, MCSP, trained as a physiotherapist in Edinburgh and has worked in paediatrics for most of her career. Christine has worked in hospital clinics, community paediatrics. For the 15 years prior to taking up the post of Development Manager for MOVE Scotland, she worked for Capability Scotland in a school for children with complex needs. She has held the post with MOVE since June 2000.

During this period she has spearheaded the following projects: “Moving Forward Together” and “Partnerships for the Future”. Based in Edinburgh, the Scottish project is an excellent example of MOVE’s success.

Anita Stack, MOVE Development Officer

Anita's background is in paediatric physiotherapy, having qualified as a physiotherapist in 1986 she has worked in paediatrics since 1990. Anita has spent the majority of her career working in special schools which have included the SCOPE run school, Craig y Parc in Cardiff which has been awarded MOVE Regional Centre of Excellence status after Anita introduced them to the MOVE Programme.
