Do a challenge for MOVE

Most people have a goal in life that they wish to achieve - including severely disabled children.

Whether it is to lift their head up and see the world around them or to go on a family holiday without their wheelchair; MOVE helps these children to actively work towards and accomplish their goals, often defying all previous expectation.

Everyday activities that we take for granted can be extraordinarily difficult for severely disabled children but it does not have to mean that they are impossible, as many children on the MOVE programme demonstrate.

What is your goal? Accomplish your personal challenge and raise funds for MOVE.

Please contact the MOVE office to let us know about any activities you are undertaking for the charity. We are keen to support you to ensure all activities are conducted safely as well as celebrate your achievements!

  • Jump from at least 10,000 feet - just like the professionals
  • Freefall down to 5,000 feet - falling through the air at 120 mph!
  • Ride the parachute down to the ground - we teach you how to steer onto the drop zone
  • Landing controlled by your instructor
  • Certificate to prove that you have completed a 'two-mile high' Tandem Skydive!

Climb for MOVE! Peak Challenges

The Three Peak Challenges

This involves climbing the highest mountains in

  • Wales – Snowdon, which is 1085m or 3,560ft high.
  • Scotland – Ben Nevis, which is 1344m or 4,408ft high
  • England –Scafell Pike, which is 978m or 3,209ft.

Different people will take different amounts of time to complete the challenge, but the aim is usually to complete all three peaks in 24 hours. It is not a single charity event and you can do it as part of a large organised group or organise your own event. There is usually a designated driver as everyone else becomes tired and should rest between peaks.

There are many websites dedicated to this challenge but the most helpful are www.3peaks.info  and www.merseyventure.com/threepeaks.htm .

UK Four Peaks Challenge

This is usually about 36 hours as it involves a ferry crossing to Northern Ireland to climb its highest peak after or before the three Peaks over here!

  • Northern Ireland’s highest peak is Slieve Donard, which is 850m or 2,788ft high.

Irish Four Peak Challenge

This covers the 4 highest peaks in Ireland’s four province : - Carrauntoohil (Kerry), Mweelrea (Mayo), Slive Donard (Down) and Lugnaquilla (Wicklow) One of the websites for this is www.focusireland.ie/htm/fundraising/challenges/fourpeaks/index.htm
