How can I get my child onto the MOVE programme?

We are working hard to make MOVE available to every child and adult that could benefit from it. However this is a huge task and we still have a long way to go. In the first instance we'd recommend that you:

MOVE works with individuals to
achieve long-term benefits and
can be tailored to the persons
changing needs.

  • Contact us to find out if     there is a school or centre     near to you that uses     MOVE. Or
  • Contact your nearest          Regional Centre of     Excellence to arrange a visit     if you'd like to see MOVE in     action.
  • MOVE works best if everyone around your child including therapists and teachers are using the programme. Therefore if there is not a school or centre near to you using MOVE then we would aim to get your school or centre on board.

If you would like to see MOVE provided in your child's school or centre, please contact us to discuss how we can help this happen.

"As a parent of a child with
    profound physical and learning
    disabilities, I am frustrated
at the lack of resources for
my son and other children such
    as him... The MOVE Programme
    addresses many of my concerns,
    regarding my child's future
    development. With the
    collaborative approach the
    programme has, with everyone
    considered a key partner, I
    see it becoming a benchmark
    for other organisations to
    set their standards by."
    Bobby McBride, parent in Scotland.

To be able to use MOVE effectively with your child we need to ensure that proper training is provided.

MOVE Practitioner training takes two days and teaches how to start up and practice the programme including the setting of goals, assessing ability, teaching skills, using equipment and maintaining new expertise. All of which ensures that your child has the best possible support in taking their first steps to independence. MOVE training is available to everyone including parents, for further information please see MOVE training.

MOVE Practitioners joining our European-wide community have access to ongoing support and development after completing the course.
